What you can experience

The exhibition was first presented in Athens in 2024 at the initiative of The Other Arcadia Foundation on the occasion of the centenary of Kafka's death. Now it moves to the author's birthplace — "to the mother with claws", to Prague, the city that shaped his perception of space, time, esoteric experiences and the atmosphere of his writing.

An exhibition with a soul

The exhibition, inspired by the multilayered and deeply symbolic work of Franz Kafka, is a journey through aspects of Kafka’s universe, viewed through the prism of contemporary, distinctly individual visual approaches. The participating artists touch on themes central to Kafka’s world – existential anxiety, mortality, absurdity, the dead ends of human existence, as well as mechanisms of power, bureaucratic oppression, alienation or the changing relationship between the individual and social structures. Motifs of dream, desire, corporeality and posthumanism also come to the fore.

The result is a visual mosaic that approaches Franz Kafka from different perspectives and distances, allowing for the concurrence of multiple interpretations, similar to what happens in his works.
